An investigation into the theory of resistance Essay

My results support this as the graph of length against resistance shows that relationship is directly proportional. As the points on the graph are very close to the line of best fit, this supports my prediction. Also as I repeated my experiment 3 times and obtained very similar results, it shows that this experiment is repeatable and reliable. So, I conclude that as the length of wire increases, so does the resistance. I have realised also that double the length means double the atoms, which doubles the collisions and in turn, as explained in my prediction, doubles the resistance. This leads me also to believe that resistance would be less in smaller wires, this is due to higher current and increased heat. During the investigation three major changes were brought to my attention, these changes were: -> As I increased the length of wire, a. ) The potential difference increased b. ) The flowing current decreased c. ) The resistance in the wire also increased. I also found that when doubling the length of wire the resistance will more or less double also. E. g. when the length was 50cm the resistance was 4. 00Ohm, and when the length was 100cm theresi e was 8. 00Ohm. Evaluation The experiment I carried out was completed by means of very basic school laboratory equipment. Although reliable and trustworthy evidence was collected, proved by the similar 3 times repeated results and matching line of best fit to my prediction, I believe my results could have been far more accurate with a greater time span and some far more enhanced technical equipment, such as a digital multimeter. Although during my experiment there were no major anomalies there were a few variations within my repeats of the experiment. These minor variations truthfully had no major effect on the overall experiment due to the diminutive extremity of them. Nevertheless these small variations may have many similar reasons for appearance of which that the major anomaly would have on occurrence. These reasons could consist of such things as: – Loose connectivity and/or faulty equipment – Human error (inaccurate readings and/or checks) – Temperature (collision speed alterations) To improve the accuracy of my experiment It would have been helpful if: – The wire was in a temperature controlled environment, this is because resistance is affected by temperature. – The voltmeter and ammeter were difficult to take a reading off, this is due to the unsettling of the actual readings, they flicker and change several times before stopping on a final reading. If you move slightly however, the results will flicker again and become distorted. To prevent this, a better quality analogue meter with a built in mirror to prevent parallax could be used to my advantage. – Also, if I had more time I could have extended my experiment and repeated it with shorter intervals of wire. I could have taken readings every 5cm instead of every 10cm, this way I could gather more information and add a set of supplementary details to my results. If I changed all of the above, in theory I should come across far superior accuracy in my readings. If this theory is correct my results graphs should show a stronger correlation. If I were to present extra evidence I could make the following changes for further experiment. – Increase length of wire – Increase the thickness of the wire, – Change the material of the wire. If the above three changes were investigated for further experiment, I would hope that they would only validate my predictions and basically back up my evidence. Â

Program Analysis

The points of view of the segments are that the Bola virus has become an epidemic in the world and everyone should be alert as to the symptoms to prevent them from getting sick. The man who traveled from Africa to the United States with the virus was said to be traveling for many different reasons. At first all stations seemed to be In sync with not knowing the truths as to the reasons for his travels. One of the first assumptions was that he traveled here to get medical attention to help him be cured of the virus. The programs mention this because there was a recent case of an American man who name from Africa after helping treat the African people with the virus and found out that he contracted it himself. After being quarantined in a hospital he was cured with an experimental drug. They felt he traveled here to get the same treatment. This raised a lot of question for people and the broadcast stations that reported on this subject. I believe the reports are objective for a couple o f reasons. As humans we are afraid of certain things and when those who usually have the ability to be persuasive for many reasons are scared they tend to want to be more objective that subjective o that they will be able to benefit for themselves as well as those who matter most to them, this in return allows others to be informed as well. This is demonstrated through the information provided is more based on fact rather than make up stories to benefit them as a station or a group. The reports from the stations can also be subjective In ways that they assumed the reason for the man's travels and made conclusions off of Information that has not been proved to be fact. This could have been used to gain ratings by coming up with an outrageous reason for his travels. The information that was included that shouldn't have been included is that the stations report that the people that have contracted the virus here in the United States now makes it an epidemic. In reality there is no epidemi c here In the United States because there Is no mass outbreak of the virus to a lot of people. This shouldn't have been Included because It gives people the false sense that there Is a problem with the virus here in America and people have begun to make their own assumptions as to the issue and make precautions that may not be necessary at this mime. I do not think there was any information that was not included, but it seems as if information takes time to get around on the issue. When it was found out that the two nurses had the virus one nurse was able to travel causing other people to possibly be exposed to the virus. With the Issue at hand there are various social who are from America felt the man who traveled from Africa should have been allowed to die. People are not saying this to be meant and inhumane but for reasons of preventing an epidemic here in the United States. For example if the man who name here was treated and survived the virus while thousands are dying in Africa, then that news will spread and people of Africa who have contracted the virus will try to make their way to America in an effort to find a cure. On the other hand people feel like the man should have survived because we were able to treat and cure all American people who contracted the virus, but one man from Africa we could not treat and feel like the man was allowed to die. This cause caused people to feel like the people in charge of the cure or effort to treat people are monsters. Also there are people who want to restrict travel from Africa to the United States not allowing to travel to America from the area's most affected by the virus. At first nothing was done but after a while of concerned people pressuring the President for answers and results there was a plan to scan people at airports for signs of the virus. The news reports reported on this new plan to help prevent cases from entering America, and allowed people to feel relief but it was short lived. Not long after the r eports of the plan to scan people at airports, it has been also reported that signs of the virus are to easily detected at first and people can easily pass the scans and end up showing signs of the virus after they left the airport. This cause the concerns to go back up in America and people are now scared again. Most recently the new process is to also immediately quarantined people who come to America from Africa to ensure that that do not have the virus before allowing them to return to public. This has caused another issue as reports of a woman refusing to be quarantined and planned to sue because she is being kept away from her family, Job, and home. People say that it's or the protection of the country while she feels like she is being imprisoned Just because she traveled to Africa and being treated like someone with a disease. This has caused people to develop their own feelings about the situation but most agree that she should be kept in so that if she possibly did contract the virus in Africa she would not spread it to others she came in contact with. With everything that has been reported and said on the different cases of Bola here in the United States I feel that the majority of the segments are taken with face value with little nationalization for entertainment. With the issue being real and people truly concerned about what can possibly happen is there is an outbreak here in the United States, I feel the majority of the reports are for real information purposes to allow the public to know what's going on in America and how it relates to the people of the country and id the virus is a true concern here.I also feel that there is some entertainment factor here has some shows have begun to make Jokes as to how people can contract the virus and it is completely a Joke. I also hear on the radio that radio personalities are using the situation to get the opinion of the public and allow their voice to be heard on the different situations surround the viru s and people coming from Africa to return home, go to college, and other reasons for coming to the Unites States. In conclusion with so many different stories to follow in news programs there are some that catch your attention for reasons beyond entertainment. I feel like the reporting on the Bola virus are one of the reports in which you want to be he situation is very serious and a huge concern there are still people here that can make a Joke about the situation. Some people may find it funny while some may not and take offense to the things that can be said and done on the television and radio. In the end it is up to us as an individual to decide whether we will pay attention to what's going on and what's being or ignore it. Some ignore it because they know it is not a real issue at this point and will continue to until it becomes a real issue here in America. Till them we will not see people walking around in gloves and masks.

“a Study of Bpo Industry with Reference to Employee Essay

The industry is very diverse, with several sub-segments, each displaying its own unique characteristics. The BPO players need to be excellent in every facet of operations as the market is highly competitive at every level and re-defining itself every day. It is basically a people-centric industry. The scenario however, is not as rosy as it looks, for this sector with enormous potential. Like any other industry during its growth phase, this industry is also going through its share of turbulence. There was the issue about people quitting the BPO jobs and the question arrived in my mind were: â€Å"Why do BPO executives job-hop so frequently? Is it just because of money or are there other reasons? and created an interest in my mind to find out the answers not only for the above questions but also for finding out the retention strategies that can be adopted by BPO’s. For the purpose of this project, the research work is limited to only 10 BPO’s in Mumbai and their 200 employees. It was very difficult to study the industry as a whole as the size of the industry is very large and it is very difficult to extract information about the attrition rates and reasons for he same and also the strategies adapted by different companies to retain its staff in limited time period given for completion of the project.

Leadership Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Leadership - Essay Example One of the major characteristics of DAC Ltd is the importance it gives to empowerment of employees. DAC leaders at all levels are trained to coach and mentor staff. Comprehensive training helps DAC to keep the employees competent all the time to meet the challenges of rapidly changing business world. DAC gives particular attention to the individual developments because of its belief that all the DAC employees are contributing to the company in one way or other. DAC is following a transparent approach in its functioning. It is not much interested in keeping company secrets. For example, everyone in DAC at all levels knows about the bid for EMMACorp. The company knows that revealing every secret to the employees may help the company to grow employee loyalty towards the company. It should be noted that employees may feel that they are essential parts of the organization and that is why the company is taking them in confidence. Relationship building is the core of every business activity and DAC knows this fact very well. This is a clearly communicated vision of the CEO and employees are expected to support this philosophy whole-heartedly. Those not committed to the company vision are encouraged to seek alternate employment. DAC knows very well that it is important for the company to keep existing customers along with finding new customers. So customer servicing at all levels has been given top priority at DAC. CHRISSIE Co One of the most common illusions among corporate world is the myth that women leaders are incapable of dealing with challenging situations. However, lessons from the latest recession show that companies with female board members done better than companies with male board... This research will begin with the definition of leadership as a highly sought- after and highly valued commodity. According to Northouse leadership is a process which occurs in groups; it involves influence and common goals†. Hackman on the other hand described leadership as the first and foremost a communication based activity whereas Mullins argued that â€Å"leadership is not about being a wonder woman or man; but it about valuing individuality†. According to Clawson, â€Å"Leadership is about managing energy first in yourself and then in those around you. Being a leader depends on one’s point of view, not on status and title†. The above definitions clearly suggest that it is difficult to accommodate leadership in few words. Leadership is a quality which is associated with lot of parameters. There are born leaders as well as developed leaders. In other words, leadership qualities are inborn as well as developed. For example, Steve Jobs was a developed le ader whereas Edward Kennedy was a leader with inborn qualities. Leaders with inborn leadership qualities may emerge out naturally while they work in groups. Others on the other hand, emerge as leaders over time after receiving enough experiences and training. Trait theory says that traits or inborn qualities such as intelligence, communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, vision and charisma are inborn leadership qualities. In other words, these leadership qualities are inherited among certain people at the time of their birth itself whereas others learn such qualities from their surroundings.

International Students Choice Of Brand Products Literature review

International Students Choice Of Brand Products - Literature review Example Advertising can be considered as a significant consequence of technological advancement and globalization. Advertising and promotions have become the effective marketing tool for the marketers in order to present the information about products or services to the target customers (Mattelart, 2005 and Keegan, 2009). However, both Mattelart and Keegan have provided the effective foundation for this research as their writings are very broader. But, both these writers used to carry some drawbacks, such as the concepts of Mattelart are slightly outdated and UK centric. On the other hand, the views of Keegan are slightly concentrated towards the US. It is true that several brand managers of leading brands generally use brand personality in order to ensure unique brand positioning (Miller, 2005). In addition to this, according to Iyer (2005), and Sun (2009), several leading brands across the globe use targeting approach in order to ensure customer differentiation in global market place. Seve ral marketing communication tools, such as price promotion and advertising elements are being used by organizations in order to attract the target customers. The views of Mattelart and Keegan provided a valuable direction to the topic. In addition to this, brand managers used to enhance knowledge sharing regarding own brands that is central to the brand equity (Keller, 2008 and Sun, 2009). When the organizations go for international advertising, it is highly important for them to maintain a balance between adaptation and standardization.

Hyperlipdemia an new treatments with statin medications Essay

Hyperlipdemia an new treatments with statin medications - Essay Example The treatments at West of Scotland Coronary Prevention Study (WOSCOPS – 1995) included 6596 men. The studies proved hugely successful; the all-cause mortality was reduced by 22% (Reamy, 1995). Such results from WOSCOPS and other accompanying studies lead to the commonplace practice of using statin therapy for acute ischemia (Reamy, 1995). It has been proven that synthetic statins such as rosuvastatin and atorvastatin decrease LDL levels. A study showed results of using intensive statin treatment on atherosclerotic plaque burden; the LDL cholesterol level dropped from â€Å"130mg/dl to post treatment level of 60.8mg/dl with 40mg/day rosuvastatin† (Reamy, 1995, p. 8). Other studies have also confirmed that statins are particularly useful for hypercholesterolemia in older patients. The curing action of statin was regardless of the previous levels of serum lipids, gender or age (Aronow, 2006). National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) III guidelines suggest that in high-risk patients low density lipoprotein (LDL) level of less than70mg/dl is a rational treatment strategy (Aronow, 2006). This strategy has nothing to do with the age of the patient. In case of a high risk patient with hypertriglyceridemia (low serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol), a combination of nicotinic acid or fibrate with any drug that has the property of lowering LDL cholesterol can be effective (Aronow, 2006). Moderately high-risk patients can be effectively treated with serum LDL cholesterol but the amount should be decreased to less than 100 mg/dl and this level of LDL cholesterol needs to be dropped further (30% to 40%) in case the patient is under LDL cholesterol drug therapy (Aronow, 2006). Despite remarkable lab results in treating hyperlipidemia there have been complications recorded with statin treatment. A study conducted in United Kingdom showed that hyperlipidemia patients treated with statin showed the likelihood of suffering

IDiscusson board reply Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

IDiscusson board reply - Coursework Example Many organizations driven by quality would implement a pay-for-performance system that will improve employees’ performance. They will set mechanisms to gather, analyze and interpret unbiased data of all employees through annual or semi-annual performance appraisals linked directly to an individual. This will remove biases and challenge employees to work harder since the industrious ones get appreciated through rewards such as promotion (NIV, Mathew 25.21). Linking employees’ performance to rewards will give the administration the best program to design salaries and wages. It will also help in performance, monitoring and evaluation, which will translate into quality production, profitability, low turnover and organizational discipline (Rehman, & Ali, 2013). However, such scenarios may not occur in organizations where management is bossy. Such management always has conflicts with employees resulting in a general decrease in production capacity despite high salaries. Healthier lifestyles will save organizations costs related to medical expenditure and production. The organizations are also developing employee wellness programs such as regular medical examinations focused on preventing health issues before they develop and increasing employee insurance premiums. Family Structure Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Family Structure - Essay Example In a Foster family unit the children are raised by foster parents who are not the actual or biological parents of the child. The child may be living there for some days weeks or even months, because the actual parents of the child may not be alive or may not be capable of looking after the child due to a number of factors. These types of families are common in the United States where children are left in the care of foster parents if the actual parents are drug addicts or even criminals. Grand-parent headed Families are those units where the grandparents being the eldest and the senior most members of the family are treated with respect and are obeyed. The children of this family, no matter how old they grow, abide by the wishes of their parents till they are alive. This type of family culture is highly prevalent in India, where the senior most members of the family in a joint family are treated with utmost respect. The first task that the new couple accomplishes is to accomplish loyalty to the newly formed relationship. Both the partners begin their new life together by staying together with each other and loyalty is achieved by maintaining the sanctity of the marriage and trust among both the partners. The second task involves the formation of the new married relationship. The bond is created in a holy place and sanctified, after which the couple dedicate each other to themselves and spend good as well as bad times together. The third task is the building and realignment of relationships with each other's families and friends, where the couple gets to know each others' acquaintances and try to adapt themselves to the new relationships. The case is especially difficult for a woman if she has to move into a joint family or husband's extended family after marriage and live with them. There is tremendous adjustment on the part of the wife in such a case. These types of tasks are highly prevalent in the Indian Family systems, where the extended or joint family system is still highly prevalent. 3 major types of violence that is of concern to community health nurses are: Spouse/partner abuse, Child abuse and Elder abuse (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, (2001). 3 examples of primary prevention interventions that can be used in dealing with violence are: Universal Screening and Identification, School-Based Prevention Programs and Media and Public Education (American Medical Association (1994). Animal Farm, Snowball Essay Example for Free

Animal Farm, Snowball Essay He led a revolution, became a scapegoat, and was exiled from his home lane. This person was Leon Trotsky, a Russian Marxist revolutionary. In the novel Animal Farm, Trotsky came out through a pig named Snowball. Throughout the novel, Trotsky is brought up more and more through snowball. Leon Trotsky is represented through Snowball by the many life events they had in common. Snowball was chased away from the farm and became an exile by Napoleons trained dogs. In Trotsky’s life, he too became an exile from his home. He sent away and banned from returning. In addition, Napoleon claimed that all the ideas that had come from Snowball were actually all his own creations. â€Å"One of them all but closed his jaws on Snowballs tail, but Snowball whisked it free just in time. Then he put on an extra spurt†¦ slipped through a hole†¦ and was seen no more†(68). This is a quote from the scene where Snowball becomes banned from the farm. After Snowball takes charge over the farm for some time, his comrade, Napoleon comes to despise him. Snowball and Napoleon never agree on anything. Napoleon did not want the animals to side with Snowball, he always argued against Snowballs ideas and was never friendly towards him. What also went on was Napoleon, showing his hatred for Snowball, examined the layouts Snowball had made for the windmill and urinated over the plans. Napoleon showed his disgust by urinating on something that was important to Snowball. â€Å"†¦looked closely at every detail of the plans†¦ then suddenly he [Napoleon] lifted his leg, urinated over the plans, and walked away†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (65). Obviously the action that Napoleon just committed shows hatred for Snowball. After Snowball was gone from the farm, he became a scapegoat for Napoleon. It was suddenly Snowballs fault that the windmill had collapsed. Napoleon needed a reason for it to have fallen, and who better to blame than Snowball, that way the animals would want revenge by building a stronger one; exactly what Napoleon wanted. In addition, it was announced that Snowball had been sneaking onto the farm to steal corn, break eggs and what not. Whatever bad thing that occurred was automatically put on Snowball by Napoleon. â€Å"Whenever anything went wrong it became usual to attribute it to Snowball†(88). With hardly ever any proof, Snowball was always the scapegoat. In conclusion, it is obvious how Snowball went through the events of Leon Trotsky’s life. From having his ideas stolen to becoming a scapegoat, he led the life of a famous revolutionary leader, though it wasn’t a very good life, he made a big impact on all of his comrades and will never be forgotten.

Pollution in China Essay Example for Free

Pollution in China Essay Introduction China, with its rapid industrialisation seems to have paid its price by witnessing steeply rising levels of pollution. With millions of largely unregulated industries, the vast rivers, streams and lakes have become easy avenues for chemical, textile and tanning industries to discharge their toxic contents at will. The paper discusses the pollution in China, its impact on the environment and how it has affected the lives of people.   An Overview of Pollution in China   A report by the World Bank (China 2007) has pointed out that China is facing increased levels of pollution that has kept pace with the rising industrialisation of rural China. The report points out that the use of energy in China has went up by 70 % between 2000 and 2005. The use of coal has also increased by 75% and this has created a corresponding increase in the air pollution. The report points out that China’s emissions of SO2 and soot were respectively 42 percent and 11 percent higher making it the largest polluter in the world. The report also points out that pollution of water, rivers, lakes has also increased to alarming levels. Water pollution is also a cause for serious concern and during 2001 and 2005, about 54 percent of the seven main rivers in China contained water deemed unsafe for human consumption. The report points out that the economic burden of premature mortality and morbidity due to air pollution was157.3 billion Yuan in 2003, or 1.16 percent of by WHO. The report suggests that pollution costs China more than 147 billion Yuan a year in the form of increased health related costs. A report from CBS news says â€Å"Chinas air pollution seems like a problem just for that country, think again. The stuff spewing out in China has now been detected in the United States, and some suspect its beginning to affect the U.S. climate Chinas far-reaching dust and soot cloud travelling to the West Coast hits Hawaii first, and that may be why temperatures in Hawaii are rising. A lot of early-computer modelling of Chinese pollutions effects on the global climate is turning out to be just plain wrong. This is why a massive new study with ground and air monitoring across Asia starts next year† (Yinchaun, 31 March 2000). Following table shows the air quality in China Table 1. Trends in Air Quality in China’s Cities (%) (China, 2007) The following table shows the distribution of particulate matter in air Table 2. Distribution of PM10 and SO2 Levels in 341 Cities, 2003 and 2004 (China, 2007)   The list of pollutants that infect China re provided in the following table. Table 4. List of major pollutants and their categories (China, 2007)   Clare (Clare D’Souza, 2002) reports that â€Å"Energy consumption, especially coal consumption, is the main source of air pollutants such as particles, SO2, NOx, and CO in most cities of China. As the primary energy source, coal has accounted for about 65 to 70 percent (China Statistical Yearbook 2004) of total energy consumption in recent years, which has caused many environmental and human health problems. Crude oil consumption has been increasing because of the rapid expansion of the motor vehicle fleet in many cities. In recent years, epidemiological studies conducted around the world have demonstrated that there are close associations between air pollution and health outcomes. PM10 and SO2 are chosen in many studies as the indicative pollutants for evaluating the health effects of ambient air pollution. Although the mechanisms are not fully understood, epidemiological evidence suggests that outdoor air pollution is a contributing cause of morbidity and mortality. Epidemiological studies have found consistent and coherent associations between air pollution and various outcomes, including respiratory symptoms, reduced lung function, chronic bronchitis, and mortality†. The author suggests that industry â€Å"size† is controversial with respect to environmental issues. In some studies large enterprises have been deemed to be more pollution intensive in comparison with small enterprises. The author reports that small enterprises as being more environmentally friendly due to their size and found small plants to be far more pollution intensive because they are difficult and costly to regulate. Empirical research has suggested that enterprise size is inversely correlated with emissions intensity in developing countries. World Bank and other institutions have found that small enterprises are pollution intensive (Mani, 1997).   Karshenas (1992 author has pointed that the Winter’s (model of business and the environment may be a more appropriate way of approaching the problem. According to the author, â€Å"enterprises may not have mastered perfection in terms of ecological sustainability but enterprises can make a systematic assessment of the areas where improvements can be introduced. Although Winter goes beyond traditional management theory, the model emphasizes ecologically sound processes and practices right throughout a firm, from company policy, employee relations, supply chain, public relations and marketing. A firm should consider prevention, reduction, recycling and disposal of wastes throughout its operations. They should use sustainable inputs in environmentally friendly manufacturing processes that result in greener outputs (i.e. maintaining environmentally friendly processes for a product from cradle to grave). This would prove to be profitable, provided that the end users, be they industry or consumers, are committed to using green products. Ideally, enterprises should take control of their own operational structure by viewing cleaner manufacturing as a competitive and strategic challenge, they should resort to manufacturing life-cycle analysis, environmental auditing and environmental reporting. The reality is that an enterprise cannot consider making a product ecologically sound without considering how its raw material acquisition, development, manufacturing, distribution, sales and disposal systems impact on the environment. The author suggests that has gone one step further by stating that managers in a green venture start from a different mindset. They recognise that becoming green is an opportunity to establish a unique position in a niche market or, by being able to produce a higher value product with fewer resources, to gain a competitive advantage. He proposed a trisect by which sustainable business is based on the concept of balancing ecological, economic and social factors†..   Action to fight pollution   The government of China has redoubled its efforts in fighting pollution and has organized task forces at the local levels. The structure is shown in the following figure. Figure 1. Main Government Partners in the Project   The report has identified a number of measures to fight pollution and these are displayed in the following table. Table 4. Sectors and Pollutants Included in the CECM (China, 2007) The team has implemented certain steps to fight the pollution and these are illustrated in the following figure.   Figure 2. Flow Chart for Estimating the Economic Cost of Pollution (China, 2007)   The following steps have been proposed: Step 1: Identify the pollution factors, polluted area, and related conditions. Step 2: Determine affected endpoints and establish dose-response relationships for pollution damage. Step 3: Estimate population (or other) exposures in polluted areas. Step 4: Estimate physical impacts from pollution using information from steps 2 and 3. Step 5: Convert pollution impacts in physical terms to pollution costs in monetary terms. Indiscreet reaction by the Chinese government Wang (Wang Xiangwei. 4 Jun 4, 2007) reports that the Chinese government is paranoid about maintaining a good image about China, for fears that it may hurt its business stakes. The author reports that the most convenient way for China to control pollution is by jailing activists who point out the problems of pollution. The author reports about the village of Wuxi and how it was affected by pollution. For hundreds of years, Wuxi , on the edge of Tai Lake, was the envy of the nation. In the heart of the Yangtze River delta and known as the land of fish and rice, it was bestowed with fertile land and abundant waterways, and was also home to famous poets, painters and industrialists. Since recently however, the city has become a stinking hell for its five million residents as a blue-green algal bloom from the heavily polluted lake contaminated the citys tap water, making it foul-smelling and undrinkable. After scrambling for six days with emergency measures, Wuxi officials said yesterday the tap water was drinkable. But the residents, who have relied on bottled water for drinking and cooking, have every reason to be suspicious. Xinhua has reported that after the usual cleaning aids such as activated carbon failed to remove the odour, the city adopted what Mayor Mao Xiaoping called a bold move by pouring huge amounts of potassium permanganate (Condys crystals) into water-intake points. This allowed the strong oxidising agent to remove foul-smelling matter from the pipes. But Xinhua failed to explain that potassium permanganate is hazardous and can be a health risk. As the Wuxi officials brazenly claimed credit for winning the battle against the water crisis, none of them yet had the decency to apologise to the suffering residents. All of them have blamed factors beyond their control higher- than-normal temperatures that helped to foster the growth of the algae, a lack of rain and favourable wind conditions, and the lowest water level in the lake in five decades. In fact, the fundamental cause of the crisis is the lakes heavy pollution as several mainland environmentalists have repeatedly warned the authorities in the past decade. Wu Lihong, 39, is one of them. He has spent large sums of his own money over the past 16 years collecting evidence of pollution at Tai Lake, the mainlands thirdlargest freshwater lake, and petitioning the local authorities to shut down the polluters. Now, with a water crisis on its hands, one would imagine any government that claims to put the people first would give Wu a medal of honour and make him a hero. Instead, Wu, known as the Tai Lake anti-pollution warrior in overseas media, is languishing in jail and awaiting trial on June 12 on trumped-up charges of blackmail. A farmer turned businessman who grew up in Zhoutie town in Yixing a small, booming industrial city under the jurisdiction of Wuxi Wu witnessed the lake turn into a cesspit. He then made it a personal crusade to petition authorities to shut down more than 2,000 chemical factories in Yixing that spewed toxic pollutants into the lake every day. By passing the local bureaucracy and filing reports to higher- level government officials has led to limited success he is welcomed, even liked by many central government officials and national media in Beijing. In 2005, he was chosen as one of mainlands top 10 environmentalists and honoured at a ceremony in the Great Hall of the People. But he incurred the wrath of local officials and has been constantly harassed by local policemen, officials and thugs. He was arrested again in April on charges of blackmail after the local officials set a trap for him. They offered him 40,000 yuan for a mission to attract investment from other mainland cities, and then laid charges of blackmailing the authorities. His lawyer, Zhu Xiaoyan , said that Wu had told her that he was whipped while in custody, and she was not allowed to see him until more than six weeks after his arrest. Like Gao Yaojie , a retired Henan doctor who refused to keep quiet about Aids, Wu has refused to stand down despite the threat of jail. The mainland leadership should learn from the fiasco of trying to muzzle Ms Gao and release Wu immediately.(Wang Xiangwei. 4 Jun 4, 2007).   Conclusion Pollution in China has assumed the proportion of an epidemic with wide ramifications on the health of the people, the environment, air and water. The paper has presented discussed various aspects of the problem and presented statistics to show the extent of pollution. Certain recommendations have also been made so that the pollution could be averted and reduced to some extent. References China, 2007. Cost of Pollution in China. Marketing Strategies on Social Media: Fast Food

Marketing Strategies on Social Media: Fast Food Introduction Social media has become one of the channels with the highest impact of advertisements in the last decade. This is primarily because of the widespread reach of the internet and social media tools through all locations. The principles based on which any marketing communication strategy is defined are as follow Create attention among the people. The marketing communication strategy should be such that it is highly visible and capture immediate attention of the viewers. The communication strategy should be relevant to the target market and arouse interest to meet the needs of the customers. It should convince the customers to the extent that people want to try the new product or service. The communication strategy should be simple, quick and make the customer confident to act on the information and go ahead to buy the product or service. Because of the increase in the online traffic in social media sites every day, with millions of new users signing up, all organizations would only be at ease to reach out to more people and customers through social media communication. This platform would unlike other advertising mediums such as billboards, televisions etc. be a two way channel of communication instead of one. So it could also couple as a point of contact for grievance and complaint management, besides the promotional activities. Also using the social media tools for marketing communication would make it more dynamic and real time, where pictures and videos of events happening presently can be shared immediately. These are some of the advantages that all companies wish to reap by using such tools. MacDonalds and Burger King are two such organizations which have started using social media communication strategies. McDonalds McDonalds was started in 1940 as a barbeque joint in California. However later on it was changed into hamburger and fast-food catering stand. This was the first fast- food chain to use the principles of a production line in its stores. Over many decades the popularity of McDonalds has grown and now it roughly serves around 68 million customers every day. It has its presence across 120 countries, and has almost 40,000 outlets throughout the world. The Revenue generated by MacDonalds is around $25 billion. McD has a multinational strategy where it caters to the different culinary needs of different geographical regions based on the demographics and culture. It has a diverse menu across different locations using different ingredients suited to the particular locality. Burger King Burger King was started in the year 1953 as a fast food and hamburger restaurant chain in Florida. The organization has changed hands quite a few times. Presently 3G Capital has a majority stake in Burger King. Burger King essentially served only the America and Canada region until last decade where it expanded into more international countries for better opportunities. Burger King has revenue of $ 4.1 billion. The Offerings of Burger King were comparatively less and inflexible. However after the restructuring of the organization image by 3G Capital, Burger King made more adjustments in its offerings to cater to a wider target market. Burger King in the 1970s was at the peak of advertisements; however that lost focus in a decade. Presently Burger King has around 15000 outlets throughout the world. Almost 47.5 % are in the USA itself. Comparison of the two organizations. McDonalds and BK have had a different approach to reaching out to the target market and there is some difference that is also reflected in the social media platform communication strategies. Let us check these out in details. McDonalds has a different menu at different locations taking into consideration the culture and food habits of different areas. All such geographical locations are equally important. So essentially McDonalds follows a global strategy. Burger King on the other focuses more on the USA outlets and tries to target the local audience more than the international market. As a result McDonalds social media page will have more information regarding the store openings at various locations and pictures if various people at different locations enjoying their food. Burger King on the other hand focuses more on the promotion of new products. The page will contain more information about the features of new products and the price. McDonalds has a marketing communication strategy with a global identity and so it focuses more on the soft factors such as different people at different location enjoying their meal, different events where customers are participating. So there would be more content to make the customers involved. Burger King on the other hand plays more on the hard factors by describing the new taste and ingredients used and the reasonable prices. Burger King Page also couples up as a customer complaint portal where people can state their grievance and the customer support team reaches out to them. However, since there are hardly any product features in the MacD page, there are fewer incidents of customer complaints in these pages. Conclusion The social media communication strategy clearly depends on the target market that is being catered to and the factors which are being marketed. A local strategy which focuses more on the products that is being served will have a direct promotional strategy which showcases the product features. A global strategy would focus more on the soft factors that involves more customer participation, opinion polling etc. References Marketing communications by Oyujimi Kayode Strategic marketing communications by Paul Smith, Alan Pulford Marketing Communications by Lynne Eagle

Divorce Rhtorical Analysis :: essays research papers fc

Most people, when thinking about divorce, worry about the impact that it has on the children that are involved. Even though children are most likely better off if totally incompatible parents separate instead of staying together, divorce is about loss and change, and it is still hard for children. Everyone knows that divorce has its effects on children. There are three different sources that try to explain these effects. Graham Blaine Jr. states that divorce is a threat to all children, whereas Rhona Mahony states that divorce is not always the cause of behavioral or academic problems in children coming from divorced families. Yvette Walczak and Sheila Burns state that the extent of the damage can be determined by the parents and their methods of explanation to the children.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Graham Blaine Jr. who is the Chief of Psychiatry at Harvard University health services writes a chapter in the book Explaining Divorce to Children. This chapter is entitled â€Å"The Effect of Divorce upon the Personality Development of Children and Youth.† He addresses this chapter to parents who are considering getting a divorce or are in the middle of the divorce process. The author uses a combination of Ethos and Pathos to support his theory on divorce. Blaine uses these strategies to highlight the mixed emotions a child may endure while going through such a confusing stage of their early lives. This then gives the audience a better understanding of the certain personalities children may gain while coping with sad situation of split parents. He also draws on his experience as a psychiatrist to give statistics as well as true stories to back up his reasoning.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Blaine uses five specific guidelines for parents to follow in order to try and lessen the effect of divorce upon the child. These are: 1) Place children with whichever parent remarries unless there is a marked incompatibility between that parent and the child. 2) Children under twelve should not be sent to boarding school. 3) If children must be shuffled between two families, then one household should be established as home and the other as a place to visit. 4) Do not give children under twelve a choice regarding the parent with whom they are to live, and do not tell children about an impending divorce until definite plans for the future had been agreed upon. 5) Children should not be placed in a position where they serve as confidants or spies for one parent against the other.

Essay --

Vigilantism is deeply rooted in American tradition (Brown, 1975). Arising in response to an absence of law and order in early frontier regions, and a concern with self-protection and self-preservation, vigilantes were seen as valued members of society. One of the primary reasons for the value of vigilantes is that their jurisdiction began where the law ended (Burrows, 1976; Perry & Pugh, 1989). Moreover, vigilantes partook in behaviors that legal authorities would not, could not, and should not perform (Brown, 1975). Incidents of vigilantism are not isolated to the American frontier, though. Reports of vigilantism have emerged in countries such as the United Kingdom (Evans, 2003; Sharp, Atherton, & Williams, 2008), Kosovo (Wheeler, 2000), Nigeria (McCall, 2004), Indonesia (Barker, 2006), Israel (Yanay, 1993), and Ghana (Adinkrah, 2005). These reports often conjure up mixed beliefs. Some society members and organizations publicly chastise vigilantes (Hine, 1998; McCall, 2004; Perry & Pugh, 1989), while others publicly herald them as heroes (Perry & Pugh, 1989). Lawyers, judges, and citizens have seen vigilantes as necessary components in the framework of America (Brown, 1975) and several movies have idolized real (e.g., Issakaba series) and fictional vigilantes (e.g., Death Wish and Vigilante). Pundits and intellectuals have also defended real-life vigilantes (i.e., the Bakassi Boys) accused of torture, rape, and arbitrary imprisonment. Interestingly, individuals view behaviors such as rape and t orture as deplorable when enacted in everyday situations; however, when vigilantes behave in such a way, their actions are not viewed as negatively (Ekeh, 2002; McCall, 2004). Although the general concept of a vigilante is somewhat clear... ...g victims using the mechanism of dehumanization. Dehumanization removes human qualities and/or attributes from individuals by stripping them of thoughts and feelings. For example, during Vietnam, soldiers referred to the enemy as â€Å"gooks† rather than Vietnamese citizens (Kaiser, 1969). After removing the moniker of humanness, deplorable actions are more acceptable. If removing human qualities is not successful though, individuals might also ascribe demonic or bestial qualities to their victims (Bandura, 2002). Attribution of Blame Individuals might also derogate victims by using the attribution of blame mechanism of moral disengagement. Attribution of blame portrays the aggressor as a faultless victim driven to harmful conduct through forced action (Bandura, 2002). For example, some rapists suggest that the victim was â€Å"asking for it† by the way she dressed or acted.

The Steps Which America Should Take to Reduce Our Dependence on Foreign

It is important that America should take immediate action to reduce its dependence on foreign oil. If America continues to have a great demand for it, it will create a threat to the country’s economy and national security. There are three primary actions that America might take in order to reduce its dependence on foreign oil: Alaskan oil drilling, off-shore oil drilling, and natural gas drilling. America’s dependence on foreign oil is a threat to its economy. Per minute, America wastes $200,000 and per hour, $13 million by relying on it (Natural Resources Defense Council, p. 1). Gasoline consumption has led to an increase of costs of oil which is passed on to consumers at the pump, through more expensive goods and services, and in a weaker job market and lower stock prices (Natural Resources Defense Council, p. 3). Therefore, if current trends in oil demand and prices continue, economic impacts for the U.S. will intensify. It is possible for America to reduce its dependence on foreign oil, but the petroleum industries and other monopolies have paid Congress to take out the competition (Worthington, p. 1). Legal monopolies are targeting the market effects of foreign oil, which increases profits, while America’s government obliges them. Unfortunately, these de jure monopolies have kept America in a dirty fuel monopoly that has been arranged to terminate its o nly competition to create a government-granted monopoly (Worthington, p. 1). As for the national security, by importing more and more oil each year, there is an increase of demand and a decrease in domestic production. The United States can become more secure by enforcing the work on farms and factories to reduce our thirst for foreign oil (Natural Resources Defens... ...es revenue from the sale of offshore charters and helps win political support for energy and climate legislation (Broder, p. 2). The political response to off-shore drilling is positively approved. The Offshore oil drilling plan is considered to be a new chapter in the nation’s search for an approachable energy policy that can release new areas to oil and gas enlargement. Interior Secretary, Ken Salazar, has said that he hoped to rebalance the nation’s oil and gas policy to block oil exploration beneath virtually all public lands and waters (Broder, p. 3). An option, that was introduced, other than depending on foreign oil and reducing oil imports was the use of biofuels. This can lead to an increase of the purchase of hybrid cars for the motor industry. Off-shore drilling is an appropriate action that can reduce the amount of foreign oil imported by America.

Reducing Transport Carbon Emissions In The UK Environmental Sciences Essay

The conveyance sector is the fastest turning consumer of energy and manufacturer of green house gasses in the European Union every bit good as in the universe ( EIA, 2010 ) . Energy usage in the conveyance sector includes energy consumed in traveling people and goods by route, rail, air, H2O, and grapevine ( EIA, 2010 ) . In UK, the overall addition in concluding energy ingestion between 1990 and 2008, was 7.5 million metric tons of oil tantamount – an addition of 5.1 % . Transport energy ingestion rose to 21 % between this period, and the largest addition occurred in the air conveyance sector ; where ingestion rose by 83 % . Over the same period, the rail sector ‘s ingestion rose by 31 % , while rider route fuel rose by 4 % ( Govtoday 2010 ) . on the other manus, It has been estimated that 480.9 million metric tons of C dioxide ( MtCO2 ) were emitted during 2009 in UK. Out of these emanations, conveyance sector paged at 121.8 MtCO2- accounted for a one-fourth of all CO2 emanations in the UK ( Department of Energy and climate change,2010 ) This shows that conveyance remains one of the major users of energy and emitter of C, non merely in the universe or European Union in general but besides UK in specific. In position of this fact, the UK authorities demand to follow energy usage decrease schemes so as to cut down its C pes print and aid to accomplish European Union ‘s policy of cut downing C emanations by 2020 so as to accomplish sustainable development.Proposed Options to cut down Energy ingestion and or emanations in conveyance sector.1.Technological options( a ) .Hybrid-electric vehicles. A intercrossed electrical vehicle ( HEV ) is a vehicle equipped with either an internal burning engine ( ICE ) and an electrical motor powered by electrical batteries. HEVs are an emerging engineering in the automotive market, with makers planing and bring forthing intercrossed systems for rider autos, light-duty vehicles, heavy responsibility vehicles, and even engines. The improved efficiency of HEVs over conventional vehicle is achieved by runing a smaller, more efficient ICE within a narrower, more efficient operational speed/power set and utilizing an electric engine and electrical storage ( i.e. the battery ) to equilibrate the public presentation energy demands. ( Deutsche Bank,2008 ) . Potential nest eggs Hybrid vehicles are frequently equipped with â€Å" halt & amp ; travel † devices. In the urban rhythm, these devices may enable farther decrease of energy usage and emanations ( Ricardo, 2009 ) . Mild loanblends ( where an electric motor is non a exclusive beginning of driving power, but besides auxiliary internal burning engine when extremum power is needed ) provide a 10-20 % fuel efficiency addition ( Deutsche Bank,2008 ) , and full loanblends, can cut down CO2 emanations for urban applications by up to 40 % depending on the vehicle. For long draw drive ( i.e. chiefly on high-velocity roads ) an norm of 7 % is reported as more typical ( Ricardo, 2009 ) , and coachs runing on intercrossed system have the possible to cut down emanations by 30 % on the conventional Diesel coachs ( Transport for London ) . Restrictions and possible actions HEVs of In general, offer more efficiency benefits in metropolis drive instead than in long-distance expressway usage ( Ricardo, 2009 ) . Though nearing commercial position, HEVs are rather expensive and it is ill-defined whether consumers will encompass them in the mass market. However, Government can make a batch to advance loanblends, including strong monetary value inducements and instruction runs to do certain consumers are cognizant of this engineering and understand its benefits ( Deutsche Bank,2008 ) . ( B ) .Carbon gaining control and storage engineering ( CCS ) Refers to the gaining control of CO2 from emanations, followed by storage in geological constructions, thereby forestalling it from come ining the ambiance ( Parliamentarly office of scientific discipline and engineering, 2005 ) . This method of C segregation can be done at production phase of fuel such that Carbon gaining control and storage engineering offers a low-carbon manner to utilize fossil fuels to guarantee security of energy supply ( Parliamentarly office of scientific discipline and engineering, 2005 ) . Potential nest eggs Using CO2 gaining control to the UK ‘s energy industries has the greatest possible to cut down current emanations. The cost of emanation decrease utilizing CCS are comparable with those of utilizing offshore wind power or atomic power-Carbon emanation decrease costs of about ?50/tCO2 ( DTI, 2003 ) Restrictions and solutions There are concerns that Carbon could be released during conveyance and injection or over clip from geological storage ( DTI, 2003 ) .Hence, CO2 release would necessitate to be carefully monitored for homo and environmental safety. However, there are already expertise and industrial protocols associated with its handling. Even utilizing pessimistic premises it has been estimated that it is improbable that more than 0.03 % of the CO2 would be released during conveyance and injection ( DTI, 2003 ) . Under present economic conditions CCS is non financially feasible. However, Making inducements for CCS signifiers portion of the wider argument on economic schemes to cut down CO2 emanations ( Parliamentarly office of scientific discipline and engineering, 2005 ) .2. Fiscal techniquesFiscal instruments are an obvious tool for authorities policy in general. They can besides be a tool for rapidly act uponing the consumption of energy efficiency in conveyance so as to cut down energy demand and cut down auto ownership by persons ( Banister, 2006 ) . Examples of financial techniques that can be used are as follows ; Fuel bringing direction measures- where autos can merely replenish at a certain clip of the twenty-four hours dependant on the last figure of their license home base Artificial elevation of fuel monetary values through revenue enhancements, Introduction of route and interior metropolis tolls restrictive parking and debut of parking fees. These financial techniques can ensue to cut down urban vehicle trips to merely indispensable trips and to deviate the bulk of occupants to public conveyance where by cut downing energy usage and C emanations ( Saleh etal,1998 ) . Potential nest eggs These techniques can cut down oil demand and ingestion by between 7 % and 10 % depending on the size of the break ( Banister, 2006 ) . Road pricing/congestion charges have been implemented in London and Durham. Even though the motive has non been to cut down CO2 emanations but traffic congestion, there has nevertheless been a significant betterment in local air quality in cardinal London and CO2 emanations degrees are down by 15 % , chiefly due to fewer autos, higher velocities and less stop-start drive ( Banister, 2006 ) . Restrictions and possible actions Information about possible steps of demand decreases in the conveyance sector is frequently highly limited and dated. Fuel revenue enhancement addition has the possible to keep demand but – recent informations about the effectivity of such steps is scarce ( IE A,2003 ) . However, since other countries have been implementing the techniques, lessons can be learnt from them which can back up determination doing procedure.3.Legislative stepsLegislative steps can besides be used to excite the consumption of energy efficiency in conveyance where by cut downing energy demand and emanations ( The Allen confer withing group,2008 ) . Example include compulsory criterions for fuel efficiency Compulsory Standards for Fuel Efficiency Standards on degree of pollution can be imposed on auto makers, with a mark agreed that all new vehicles should hold mean lower emanation rate of fuel. EU mean rate is 140 g CO2/km3 ( SMMT, 2007 ) . In the UK, the current degree for new autos is 167.2 g CO2/km ( 2006 ) with approximately 20 % more to making the 140 g/km mark ( SMMT, 2007 ) . Potential nest eggs A survey by the The Allen confer withing group,2008 in Australia indicated that a plan affecting compulsory criterions demands for big energy consumers ( devouring 100 TJ or more of energy each twelvemonth ) , is likely to present a net economic benefit over 10 old ages of around $ 710 million ( in cyberspace present value ( NPV ) footings ) .This is based on a demand for these sites to implement energy salvaging undertakings with a payback period of 3 old ages or less, and the consequence of a modest domestic C monetary value ( assumed to average about $ 15 per metric ton CO2e ) in the period 2010 to 2020. Restrictions and possible actions Mandatory energy efficiency plans implementation incur highest plan costs compared to voluntary attacks but the expected benefits are besides the highest compared to other attacks ( The Allen confer withing group,2008 ) .4. Infrastructure alterations and behavioral alteration optionsIncreasing the efficiency of route and rail vehicles so they use less fuel per rider Km or tonne-Km ( IE A,2003 ) ; Reducing the overall auto ownership and sum of personal travel and motion of goods ( IE A,2003 ) ; Transfering riders and cargo from high-consumption manners to low ingestion manners eg public conveyance ( IE A,2003 ) ; back uping Eco- drive -energy usage in conveyance is besides dependent on mean velocity of the vehicle, service quality and driver behaviour hence important sum of energy and C emanations could be saved by learning people how to drive ( Hodac, 2008 ) . bettering journey times and connexions, improved quality, handiness and affordability of public conveyance through electrification of rail webs and disgnating high velocity rail associating metropoliss to do train more attractive option to auto use ( Scots Government Publication,2009 ) . planing substructure and layout to promote and ease walking and cycling ; and do non-motorised manners of conveyance safer, quicker and more attractive ( Scots Government Publication,2009 ) Promoting options to go ( e.g. greater telecommuting ) Potential nest eggs substructure betterments, â€Å" intelligent conveyance † engineerings and systems such as better routing systems and congestion decrease and information systems can assist to replace for travel systems and better theodolite systems. An aggressive combination of such steps could realistically cut travel ( or go growing ) by 10-15 % where by cut downing energy usage and C emanations ( IE A,2003 ) . Freight-efficiency betterment programmes, much more aggressive attempts could give a 10-20 % decrease in cargo fuel usage ( IE A,2003 ) .The IEA estimations that a 5 % -10 % decrease in mean fuel ingestion per kilometer could be achieved through a combination of the undermentioned steps: stronger review and care programmes to aim fuel efficiency, acceptance of on-board engineerings that better in-use fuel efficiency and better driver consciousness of efficiency ; better and more widespread driver preparation programmes, and better enforcement and control of vehicle velocities. Restrictions and possible actions Measures such as transport demand direction and traffic direction systems are frequently supported by specific revenue enhancements, publicity of public conveyance systems to promote voluntary transportation from autos, support for usage of alternate fuels, etc. These steps face a different scope of political jobs and other jobs ( OECD, 2002 ) . However, Measures including outreach and inducements for improved heavy-duty vehicle fuel efficiency and advancing greater usage of telecommuting and public conveyance for better system efficiency can be emphasized ( IE A,2003 ) ..DecisionThere are several options that UK Government can see to follow in seeking to accomplish the purpose of cut downing C emanations from conveyance sector. The options are in the class of substructure, engineering, statute law every bit good as financial techniques. Each option has possible to cut down emanations but has associated restrictions. However, suggested solutions to restrictions are available which so allow the Government to do determinations against its ain precedences.Beyond 2050Carbon gaining control and storage engineering ( CCS ) Using CO2 gaining control to the UK ‘s energy industries has the greatest possible to cut down current emanations. The cost of emanation decrease utilizing CCS are comparable with those of utilizing offshore wind power or atomic power-Carbon emanation decrease costs of about ?50/tCO2 ( DTI, 2003 )

The Islamism: Origin, Ideology, Aims & Objectives

Nations around the world follows different ideologies to generate a direction for themselves. An ideology is a way of thinking, a set of beliefs, aims and ideas. It sets the vision for the group attached to it. Its purpose is to bring a specific change or carry out a certain task among its followers in accordance with a thorough thought process. When ideologies differ it gets difficult for the people belonging to a certain group to stay coherent. Ideological differences have triggered such events that were found to be powerful enough that they have shrugged the atlas several times. Wars had been fought by those who reject leading their life in the ways that conflicts with their own ideological beliefs. Islamic Ideology Islam is a religion of having faith in the oneness of God, finality of Prophet-hood, following the code of conduct according to the principles mentioned in the Holy Book and practicing the preaching of Holy Prophet. Islam emphasizes on building individual characters in an exemplary way so that a foundation of an ideal society could be laid. All Muslims have been ordered by their God Almighty to follow instructions prescribed in their Holy Book Quran, the purpose of this guidance is to lay down a way of life in which the laws mentioned in the book regulates a men’s relationship with other men and with his God. It provides a guideline for a man to maintain his social life along with his communion with the God. It indicates to a Muslim in his quest for knowledge, principle that enhances his capability to observe universe and nature with more understanding. Quran is not a book of science; it’s basically a book that deals with the basic principles of human life it preaches belief in oneness, immateriality, absolute power of the creator, charity for needy, brotherhood among mankind, subjugation of passions, the concept of accountability of human actions in the life after death, a system that teaches men to be grateful to all those who help and development of a sense of social consciousness by carefully performing those actions that are sensible and right and avoiding those that are forbidden and harmful for self and others. Islamism Islam provides Muslims a code of conduct that has been written in the Holy Book. Muslims are supposed to understand and follow it and when it comes to understanding there are different possible interpretations of the same text. Islamism is not a single concept rather it’s a product of different ideologies that exists within the umbrella of Islam. Islam is a religion that provides guideline for the Muslims around the world. Islamism has ideological conflicts. In general all these ideological groups call them Islamists, a group of people that completely rejects accepting secular governments and institutions and aim to align the entire world and its establishments in accordance to Sharia, the Muslim Law. One single society could have several directions of Islamism contributing to the fact that it’s been initiated by different groups trying to enforce their own ideologies and they seemed to never cooperate. Islamism expects its followers to align his life in complete adherence to the sacred law of Islam and completely rejects any foreign influences that may try to force any law or code of conduct that contradicts what is being mentioned in Islamic law. Islamism has in its root anger for non-Muslims and it condemn west to greatest extent. What it aims is to convert a religion into a kind of ideology. Origin of Islamism A little more than just 200 years before Muslim world was considered the hub of science and literature. Muslim scholars have laid such foundations that were later used by European researches to build extremely beneficial artifacts that have amazed the world. During the prime era of Muslims, there were mathematicians, doctors, scientists, philosophers, researchers and artists that people from around the globe used to come and learn from them. The theories presented by Muslim scholars are the basis of most of the modern scientific inventions and innovations. The downfall arose when the Muslim world interacted with the Europeans; its dated around 200 years back in 1798 when Napoleon landed in Egypt and the Muslim worlds came in contact with the Europe. From here came the influence and impact of European culture and civilization on the Muslims. The two nations are not incompatible but the ideological differences became evident when conflicts triggered events that lead to development of anger and hostile feelings among contradicting nations. According to Daniel Pipes: This confrontation was clearly shown in the aftermath of the fatwa by Ayatollah Khomeini against Salman Rushdie. Contrary to popular expectation, the lines in 1989 were drawn not between Muslim and Westerners, but between those who supported the ayatollah, or in some fashion sympathized with him, and those who were against him. One found many Muslims and Westerners on both sides. This illustrates how it is ideas that count, not religion. (Distinguishing between Islam & Islamism, 1998) The origination of Islamism is neither a single event nor responsibility of a particular person. It is the fundamentalist Islamic approach carried forward by those Islamic radicals that completely rejects the western culture and way of thinking. Series of events in history builds such anger among the Muslims that were once the most successful nation on the map of earth that they started to rebel and participate in destructive activities so that world could again come in their control, this time if not by education or technology then by force and devastation. Aims and Objectives There can’t by another explanation of Islamism but just that it’s like the other utopian schemes that have been proposed and adopted world wide and provides its followers ways and guidelines to control a state, take measures that help running a society and extend philosophies in order to re-make human beings inhabiting that state. The concept has been given an Islamic touch but over all it’s a totalitarian scheme. It embodied a complete transformation of the actual traditional Islam. It has an element of modernization, for instance it deals with issues related with a modern society, address problems arises in urban living and modern day women issues, and it provides guidance for the non-traditional problems faced by my occupations. It completely ignores Islamic principle of restricting laws and regulations to the individual and society rather it tries to inject geographically restricted rules in its effort to come at par with western style geographic law. It’s not a system that has evolved as result of poverty and money. It’s a reaction to modernization by those thinkers that try to find their own ways out in changing world environment and politics. Many educated people are Islamists and running their states according to their own ideology. Islamism has been evolved lately as a huge force that is responsible for running countries like Iran, Sudan and Afghanistan. In Algeria, Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, and Palestine they exists as the strong opposition force. Though its been observed that Islamists are not in majority but even if they consists of minority it’s a very active one. The countries where they have establishments they are very successful and they not only run their own territories but they also interfere in their neighborhood and participate in overall world politics. Its been feared that if they grow their powers they will be responsible for contraction of economic stability, women oppression world wide, human right violation, terrorism and arms race. The ideas presented by Islamists belonging to different countries differ in ideologies and they are very difficult to predict. All Muslims are all well aware that they were the superior military and cultural force in the world for centuries, and the reversed situation in the modern ages hurts the pride of Muslims. As many Muslim countries have tried to copy both the capitalist system, and others the socialist system, and all have seen little but marginal success, Islamists are working for re-establishing what the promote as a â€Å"third alternative†; a political system that they claim is similar to the one which once made unknown tribes grow into becoming lords of empires in a few decades. But in order to create such a society, the Islamists are not rejecting modern technology, and are very concerned about implement this on a grand scale in an Islamist society. And because of the technology, the Islamists believe that the coming Islamist society will be an even better society than the one of the Golden Age. (Islamism, 2008) Even if what Islamists are trying is to bring the Golden period of Muslims back they are overlooking the fact that being intolerant, conservative and violent is something that was even practiced by Muslim rulers of history who ruled the world. A liberal Islam that encourages peace and harmony has always been the pride of a Muslim. Islam in its fundamental teachings promotes tolerance and love. Islamists have originated from people having moderate background living in cities. Mostly youngsters have are its prime followers. They don’t consider themselves to be the revolutionaries rather they say they are bringing the lost values back to the culture and society. Islamism condemns the economic system that world follows and suggests the Islamic economic system where interest rates should be replaced by investments made on profit and loss basis. When it comes to women they have contradicting views leading from conservatives to liberal. Sometimes they encourage women to work outside and sometimes they advocate women taking care of their families as their prime concern. The Islamist ideology could in no way support democracy, dictatorship is what they profess. A leader is responsible for listening to people’s problems and solving them accordingly. The Islamists have started to adopt a violent approach towards addressing different issues and demands for almost last two decades and are considered responsible for many destructive activities killing thousands of people worldwide. Nowadays, Islamists have been feared as a long term threat as there are growing powers day by day with more and more young people joining their force.

Jane Eyre and a Tale of Two Cities: Love Theme

â€Å"I'm not supposed to love you, I'm not supposed to care, I'm not supposed to live my life wishing you were there. I'm not supposed to wonder where you are or what you do†¦ I'm sorry I can't help myself, I'm in love with you. † (Quote from Lord Byron) What is love? Scientists would simply call it a magnificent chemical war inside the brain causing us to feel the way we do about another person. Famous poets Lord Byron and Shelley would argue that it is beauty that makes us feel love but isn’t it in fact love that opens our eyes to what’s truly beautiful about a person. Many would agree that love is blind but if this is so, how can it have the ability to allow us to see and feel things untouched by any other emotion. The only way to describe it that genuinely serves it any justice at all is to say love is magic. It has the power to make any given person do extraordinary things, the ability to transform or destroy anybody completely all in one emotion, one thing is for sure, it gives people a greater purpose for existence, a reason to live and die for, something beyond themselves to devote their life to. You can read also Analysis of Literary Devices of Jane Eyre These constructions of love are repeatedly promoted in two of the most well known novels of the Victorian period, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. ‘She walks in beauty, like the night, Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that's best of dark and bright, Meet in her aspect and her eyes: Thus mellow'd to that tender light Which heaven to gaudy day denies. One shade the more, one ray the less, Had half impair'd the nameless grace Which waves in every raven tress, Or softly lightens o'er her face; Where thoughts serenely sweet express How pure, how dear their dwelling-place. And on that cheek, and o'er that brow, So soft, so calm, yet eloquent, The smiles that win, the tints that glow, But tell of days in goodness spent, A mind at peace with all below, A heart whose love is innocent! ’ (Lord Byron, She Walks in Beauty) Lord Byron, a famous poet from the 17-1800’s, frequently promoted love as being linked to appearance and beauty, judging from his poems where whenever he would talk about love he would either be describing a beautiful women or the beautiful features of a women of his desire. There’s no doubt that these poems were popular and appealing to the public, however, whether they are true or not is a different story all on its own. Both novels, Jane Eyre and A Tale of Two Cities correspond and contradict this idea of love. For example in Dickens’ work Lucie Manette is made to be an object of innocence and beauty, she’s very pretty yet she’s virtuous, she’s very generous and kind, willing to give her time to help anyone in need of her help, including her father whom she nurses out of insanity after he is freed from the Bastille. The fact that Dickens made the ‘leading lady’ of his novel this way, shows that he believes what’s on the ‘inside’ is just as important if not more, than the appearance of a person. These same ideas are portrayed in Bronte’s work, but in her version the roles are reversed, as she makes Rochester very handsome also giving him a particularly strong magnetism to his personality. People, more specifically women, are drawn to him, and to Jane his most prominently attractive feature is his eyes, which have been said to be, by many, ‘the window to the soul’, so what does this mean? Does the fact that he has smouldering eyes mean that he has a beautiful soul, or does it work the other way around, maybe it goes hand in hand but the author making this distinctive statement about eyes alone, shows that this is of particular significance. Jane, however, is described as rather plain, so if Bronte didn’t believe the same as Dickens why would Rochester be so drawn to her, fall in love with her so easily and refuse a superficially beautiful woman in order to have Jane instead. Both novels agree to the fact that beauty is sometimes an aspect of love but its most definitely not everything, personality is the main object of importance when it comes to true love. However the ideas of love that Lord Byron offered to the public were not uncommon in the time they were created. The fountains mingle with the river, And the rivers with the ocean, The winds of Heaven mix for ever, With a sweet emotion; Nothing in the world is single, All things by a law divine, In one spirit meet and mingle -Why not I with thine? See the mountains kiss high Heaven, And the waves clasp one another; No sister-flower would be forgiven, If it disdained its brother; And the sunlight clasps the earth, And the moonbeams kiss the sea – What are all these kissings worth, If thou kiss not me? (Percy Bysshe Shelley, Love’s Philosophy) Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822) the second poet mentioned earlier, promoted the same ideas of love in his works, the only difference between him and Lord Byron is that he used personification a lot more, comparing and describing the beauty of women and love, to the beauty of nature and aspects of the world. However in this poem shown above he talks about his longing for love, a theme also featured in Jane Eyre which shows that when love is found it has the power to transform a person, their life and the world through their eyes as a whole. The transformative power of love is established in the course of both novels through characters including Jane Eyre’s love interest, the dark handsome Edward Rochester whose life changes in a dramatic way after meeting Jane. He goes from being a bitter playboy in Europe , to being humble yet still strong man, even turning down a beautiful socialite of high class, to be worthy of Jane’s love, showing also that beauty is not everything and it is what’s inside a person that really matters. Jane in the same manner also undergoes change, after longing for love and family her whole life, she finally finds it with Rochester and even after she leaves, she doesn’t encounter quite the same feeling until she returns to be with him. No woman was ever nearer to her mate than I am: ever more absolutely bone of his bone, and flesh of his flesh. I know no weariness of my Edward’s society: he knows none of mine, any more than we each do of the pulsation of the heart that beats in our separate bosoms; consequently, we are ever together. ’(Jane Eyre, Chapter 38) Another good example of how love can transform a person would be Sydney Carton from A Tale of Two Cities. His love for Lucie turns him from a drunk hat takes no credit in his work as a lawyer to a man completely devoted to making the one he loves happy. ‘It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known. ’ (Sydney Carton, A Tale of Two Cities, Page 225) Not only is his love one of strength, it is also pure and selfless because even though she marries another man, he sacrifices his life to save that man in order for her to be able to live her life with whom she truly loves. I would embrace any sacrifice for you and for those dear to you. ’ (A Tale of Two Cities, Chapter 19). This is the ultimate act of love and climax of the story, showing that love, even if one sided is capable of doing amazing things, that it is a thing worth dying for if necessary, that someone who‘s love is tru e and selfless towards another person will contentedly disregard their own happiness and well being just to ensure the happiness of the one who holds their heart. One other character from A Tale of Two Cities who also goes through a quite extraordinary change is Dr. Alexandre Manett, an accomplished physician who gets wrongly accused of a crime he didn’t commit and imprisoned in the Bastille for 18 years. In his trauma he loses his mind and spends his whole time in jail sitting in a dark corner making shoes. When he is finally freed his loving daughter Lucie Manett spends all of her time nursing him out of his insanity and eventually he falls out of madness and returns to normal again. This shows that love is capable of reaching so deep into one’s heart and mind that it can restore a man in a state of mind so distorted into a person he used to be such a long time before. It has the power to sedate and possibly even heal mental trauma which is really quite incredible. Unfortunetly Dr. Manett is a tragic figure in the book and relapses to his original state of mind but this also shows that not every story has a happy ending and that some must suffer for others to triumph. There is, however, a connection between Lucie and her father that can never be broken, after lovingly caring for him and bringing him out of madness there is a trust uncommon to this time and place that exists between the two that will almost certainly remain forever. â€Å"He found the Doctor reading in his arm-chair at a window. The energy which had at once supported him under his old sufferings and aggravated their sharpness had been gradually restored to him. He was now a very energetic man indeed, with great firmness of purpose, strength of resolution, and vigour of action. † (A Tale of Two Cities, Tyler, Chapter 10) It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going d irect to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way–in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only. (A Tale of Two Cities, Chapter 1) In the clash between the French aristocracy and the revolutionaries, both sides employed spies to find out their enemies secrets and deal out harsh punishments to anyone suspected of being a rival. In this sort of atmosphere you could imagine how distrustful people would naturally be of each other, anyone you met could’ve been the person who was going to have you imprisoned or even worse, murdered. It seemed like everyone was on their own, however, even in this callous time and place love offered solace to the troubled people in need of someone or something to help them get through, it was the only thing that could truly bridge the gap between two individuals. This also somewhat applied in Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre as the troubled young Jane spent most of her early life unaccepted and unloved by her family and peers, the only one person who showed her any form of affection at all was Bessie, and even then it was only occasionally. When Jane and Helen become friends is the first time in the novel that she feels appreciated in any way as a person, she longs for love all this time because it is in fact the most cherished emotion that human beings feel. â€Å"to gain some real affection from you, or Miss Temple, or any other whom I truly love, I would willingly submit to have the bone of my arm broken, or to let a bull toss me, or to stand behind a kicking horse, and let it dash its hoof at my chest† (Jane Eyre, Chapter 8) Here you see how much Jane would really sacrifice just to feel that somebody loves her, this shows how valuable love really is because to live without it, is to live in longing for it. It is in truth, an emotion humans cannot live without and it’s literally everywhere we look, it’s what gives people hope, it’s the bigger picture on everyone’s conscious, from the love of beauty to the way a person behaves and their personality, love will always be important to human beings, and in honest belief the world would be a rather dead place without it.

Ferguson Police Officer Essay

Why has the shooting of eighteen year old Michael Brown affected my community? Some say it was a race issue others say it was police brutality. Racism being a very sensitive matter in the community that I live in, all though I do not live in Ferguson City, it is only a twenty minute drive from my front door. It has effected where I live as it brings up civil rights, police use of unlawful and deadly force, and racism issues. The shooting of this young man has rocked our communities, and it is more than likely to get worse before getting better. How can we stop events like this from happening in our communities? The civil rights of several us citizens had been violated in the following ways. We as a people have the right to peaceful protest, freedom of speech, not be profiled, and not be unlawfully detained or restrained. One afternoon in Ferguson Missouri all of these rights got broken and started a horrible civil rights protest. Several Ferguson by police officers and other local  law officials have been accused in recent lawsuits by citizen about civil rights violations. Some of these allegations include killing a mentally ill man with a Taser, hitting a child with a pistol. Choking and hog tying a child. Beating a man and charging him with property damage because his blood splatter on the officer’s clothes. A Mother (Tracey White) and her son was arrested for practicing her rights to freedom of speech while waiting for a ride home after peacefully protesting. When is it alright for an officer to use deadly force? Use of deadly force is acceptable if the suspect is a threat to the officer or the general public safety. The Ferguson police reported that Mr. Brown got fired on during a struggle with the officer. Dorian Johnson, the friend that was with Michael. Stated that the officer opened fire when the young men refused to move from the middle of the street. Police and protestors both agree that Mr. Brown was unarmed. Now with both parties agreeing that the young Mr. Brown had no weapon there was no threat that requires the use of deadly force. â€Å"In the quest to understand the racial dynamics of police brutality, we are well overdue for a new visual beyond Rodney King getting,† (Shedd, Jan). Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson (officer that fired the shots that killed Michael Brown) told authorities Brown reached for the gun during a struggle. Officer Wilson’s account of the instance did not explain why he shot at Michael multiple times after emerging from his vehicle. Which now brings me to the racism side of the situation. If this was not race oriented. Then why this unarmed young black male was shot six times two of which were in the head. His body was allowed to lie in the center of Canfield Drive for over four hours. These have caused many different events to expire, and there has been looting of business like the market, tire and rim shop, and the salon. Businesses to be burned to the ground like the quick-trip after it got looted. The peaceful protest went on for the first week ended with a standoff between protesters and police. The police formed a line and engaged the protestors with tear gas. After long nights of back and forth daybreak would arrive, and things would mellow out slightly. First days of school in Ferguson had been postponed due to the facility did not feel it was safe to have children in the schools the first couple day.  Ã¢â‚¬Å"Racism is manifested or reflected in a multiplicity of ways, including: the teaching of basically Eurocentric curriculum; the paucity of research and courses on racism; the absence of an anti-racist pedagogy; incident of racial harassment and overt racism; the lack of resources allocated to implement effectively and anti-racism policies and practices; the power relations between white majority and minority faculty and staff; the polarization between white students and students of color, and the resistance to social change processes designed to eliminate racism. Despite the fact that racism is a pervasive and systemic force† (Frances & Tator, 1999). Two and a half months have gone by since Michael Brown was gunned down in the streets of Ferguson Missouri by police officer Darren Wilson. The social and political movements that were started by young Michael browns death are still raging on. People from Ferguson and from across the nation came together for a â€Å"weekend of resistance†. Those who attended took part in marches, rallies, and demonstration for several days. All leading up to a massive rally on Saturday October, 12 2014. There were reports of over Three thousand people in attendance for the march on Saturday being called â€Å"justice for all.† It was a diverse crowd of supporters in the streets of St. Louis Missouri. Protestors are demanding justice for Brown and other black men who have been slain by police officers. A lot of the protests have intensified because of the way that the police have responded. The events that have occurred could have been avoided. We as citizens need to understand that these kinds of issues happen everywhere. Issues of this sort do not just appear out of thin air. If we were more involved in our communities and the voting of our government officials, we would be heard sooner. Members of our society need to stand up for our rights, communities elect strong leaders ones that listen not just hear our options and make changes in our towns and cities. Together as one we can be heard and put a stop to all the violence and police brutalities. Participation will help us all as United States citizens win our civil rights back. Career Path for Acounting Essay Example for Free

Career Path for Acounting Essay It is always so hard to give the exact number of people who have majored in accounting, but one thing that I know is that the demography is very wide and large. This is because they have different reasons for majoring in this career path. The most common reason to all people is because accounting is a marketable career and they merely want to find a job. The number of people majoring in this field is growing immensely and the most important thing is to consider the main reason of joining this profession. Some people will claim that when they were in high school, this was their best subject and they loved it and so they will need to major in it. I believe the best reason for majoring in accounting is because it has wide varieties of career path that one can major in. People should understand that this field is not all about debits and credits. It is more of a communicating language in the world of business and this is why many chief executive officers hold a degree in this field. In the day today life it is usually one of the most common undergraduate degree programs. The most important thing is to make certain that all of the people who are in this profession understand business and that is why many people who have ventured in accounting always have considerations for such posts. The most interesting part of this career choice is that most of the time the people who venture into it will always have the best job positions waiting for them because many people always have a notion that it is a difficult discipline. The employment opportunities are abounding for the graduates majoring in accounting. The government figures shows that at least 1.2 million of jobs are held by accountants every year. According to the Feldmann, 2009 and also the survey done by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA, 2000) the graduates are declining but after revisiting their research in the year 2005, it reflected an increase in number of the accountant graduates. This has become a relief to many accounting recruiters. According to the 2007 Employment dynamics and growth expectations (EDGE) 57% of the hiring managers have a difficulty when hiring qualified staff. This call for a necessity of accounting graduates, which fortunately is increasing day after the other as the business enterprises increase. After attaining a degree in this sector, most of the students always opt to become public accountants as the first career choice. The choice of either taking job as a private accountant depended on the fact that they had to make choices among the salary values offered to them. None of them like to work in the non profit organizations. They also venture to work in a CPA company because this will give them an opportunity to venture in areas that they want to experience especially in the write up sector and auditing. This will offer them the necessary experience and that is one of the things that have invigorated so many students in venturing in the public sector option. One may also opt to venture in the private sector which is immensely lucrative. Some of the student will always like to work for the company which is rising up in this sector, but this will be determined by the level of research one is willing to do. This will give them a chance to grow and nurture their career paths in different sectors. I would advise the graduates to incline towards the public sector especially the government and non profitable sector which will provide them with the best job security even if the salary is low. There are several things that an accountant can do after they have completed their undergraduate degree. One can choose to specialize in different areas of this field, but most of all have the kind of skills that can enable them in doing so. One of the areas that is very common for people who have done accounting. Auditing is one of the areas that one can venture in. It is one of the basic areas that people have chosen to build their careers in. This kind of job involves checking of ledgers and financial statements for an organization so as to determine if they are making losses and are they spending the cash that has been allocated to them accordingly. In the era that we are in today, the work of this nature has been automated and mostly they just need to key in the values accordingly and they are going to get the right kind of statement. They ensure that the values that are presented are for the financial year contains the right values. Accounting career paths are very varied and this is why many a times one has to consider the path that they want take. Many people after they have cleared school do not have an impression where to flinch their careers but the many options have in these career paths that can be taken. Book keeping is another thing that they can do. These are the people who keep records of invoices, payments and other revenue coming for a company or an individual. In many cases they will always want to venture in this area accordingly. Another area, which they would venture in is becoming general accountants. This is almost the same to a book keeper, but they make accruals and the necessary adjustments in the accounting records. In the large organizations, they are usually placed in departments like human resources department dealing with the payment of the staff. Another area is when one becomes a controller. These are the people who are responsible for the accounting department. They usually work in the public sector but also venture in the private sector and they are usually in charge of cash flow for the organization. For one to reach to such a position, one must work and put a lot of determination in the work that they do. The other job, which is available for them is becoming a forensic accountant. These are the people who work with the government or the persons who are accountable for auditing and investigating crimes which are related to accounting frauds and other related things. These people should ensure that they posses some level of law knowledge because this will assist them in identifying areas which have been altered and assist in prosecution of the culprits. A budget analyst is another thing that they can do. This is because they are able to interpret many things, which are recorded in the budget. This is a very crucial and involving work because they are the people who are responsible in the making of financial plans for businesses and other organizations especially the government agencies and other non profitable organizations. The professionals who have taken up these works can take up these jobs in both the private and the public sectors. The people who take these kinds of jobs should be very innovative when it comes to the negotiation process and that is why they should have good personal and interpersonal skills. Financial accounting is another sector that one can venture in. These are the persons who are accountable for the preparation of financial statements of the available businesses or any enterprise. These are the persons who are used to make decisions when there is a merger which is going to take place in any company. This is because these people Are gifted to study the fiscal statements of the two companies and determine if there is a need for merger and if one of the companies is taking advantage of the other or not. They are also responsible for forecasting to determine the returns that will be experienced by the companies when they merge. It is important to make sure that these people are responsible for the financial and accounting processes. Management accounting is a very busy position in any organization. This is why many people are able to have the kind of decisions that are deterministic in the process of capital budgeting and the area of analysis of contracts. Control on businesses on the expenses and the cost analysis is done by these people. They usually make sure that they work in close contact with the people responsible for the marketing sector since they assist in a big way when it comes to the making decisions which are good for the welfare of the company. Taxation is another area which they can take up. This is for persons who would like to become tax accountants. These are the people who work for both companies and individuals. They usually prepare statements which either for a corporation of personal income. It is a boost for the individual who is doing this kind of work to have good knowledge background of the necessary kind of economics which is being used by these people. Accountants are also responsible for advising individuals when it comes to venturing in different kinds of businesses. This is because they are the people who have the knowhow on the issues that are present and current in the business world. It is very good to ensure that the people who need services can be given independent and privately. Budgeting and other issues, which are associated with the business are given and offered to the people accordingly. This is very usual for the companies which need a lot of desecrate business especially those that are being faces with of competition. They need individuals who are trustworthy and can be able to keep a secret and the customer’s information private. Some individuals have also opted to continue with their studies even after becoming qualified accountants. They continue for MS to become licensed, Certified Public Accountants. This is a person who is approved by the state to finance financial information in the public companies to give accurate results. These are the individuals qualified to start their own auditing firms if they do not a favouring or well paying job opportunity (Felix 2010, 56). Thus the study found it advisable for the accountant graduates to continue to this level for better and higher chances of employment opportunities and also private or self employment enterprises. The study realized various career choices coincide with the accountant career path. Though the rate of accountant graduate seems to increase year after the other, the job opportunities are also increasing since many people are venturing to businesses which requires accountants to deal with the financial analysis. Each and every sector starting with the individual enterprises, the public, private and nongovernmental organizations cannot be successful without the accountants. These are important personnel since every business is after making profits and thus accounting careers like the auditing department are important to examine whether the business profitable or not. The private and public sectors also requires accountant staffs that are qualified to analyze their financial status and thus, realizing on the areas that needs improvement. Some students lack the opportunity of joining any of the discussed careers especially because of some issues like corruption and high competition. Nevertheless such students are not supposed to be frustrated but to come up with other activities that utilize their qualifications. A number of graduates who have lacked a position in the public, private, or the non profit organizations have started their own auditing firms. They run their own business as private auditors and are employed casually by these organizations. Other graduates have set their small microfinance businesses. These are industries which are growing at a high rate. For the qualified accountants their operations are easy and beneficial. These enterprises have become common in the rural areas and in areas with small scale business. Some of the accountants are joining hands to operate such businesses as partners. Some of these enterprises have grown to become Sacco’s and eventually banks. continue for MS to become licensed, Certified Public Accountants. This is an individual who is licensed by the state to finance financial information in the public companie s to give accurate results. These are the individuals qualified to start their own auditing firms if they do not a favouring or well paying job opportunity (Felix 2010, 56). Thus the study found it advisable for the accountant graduates to continue to this level for better and higher chances of employment opportunities and also private or self employment enterprises. For people who have advanced in these areas and actually had the best payment package compared to having a degree alone. This is why I would advice many people to make sure that they have taken the issue of taking CPA in an extra way to be able to make more money and have better jobs. Many people who have licences and certifications are able to have the best things in the career paths toward getting the best jobs possible. Every qualified accountant expects a salary that is higher than for any other undergraduate from a number of business schools. There is also an expectation of initiation into an exclusive professional club of the practicing accountants. This is a symbolic status that makes one feel to have an important and recognized rank in the society. Unfortunately these expectations are rarely met in the current society. Quite a number of students have joined the account career. This is making this field to have more than the required participants. In other words the supply is overtaking the demand. With high expectations of having a unique status, what happens when one fails to achieve this goal? One is also interested with the queries like where an accountant career path can lead one to or if there are there other industrial areas related to accountant career that such a graduate could get involved to utilize his knowledge. For students who are clearing from the universities i would advise that one who is trying to learn about a good accounting career path should have a wide variety of choices especially if he has a degree in accounting. One’s initial selection depends on the feeling about a primary direction that he believes is of interest to him. There are various general areas where one can choose to work in for instance private, public, government linked, or the non profit making organizations. For newer graduates, it is advisable to work with a CPA firm since it gives an opportunity to examine a number of industries and experience of both the audit and write up functions. One may also decide to join a private sector which is more beneficial, nevertheless it is advisable to first investigate on any industry that lies as a choice and go for the one that is fast growing. This gives an opportunity for expansion of ones career and thus wider rooms for advancement. Where one is inclined in a public service or a career in a government or non profit making organizations, one gets a good chance of exploring in various issues and can easily make changes which are beneficial to a the whole society or even the nation. All the government offices, in all departments, require accountant personnel that are talented.
